Why Supabase for this
Video delivery must assume variable bandwidth. Adaptive streaming and download-for-offline are not premium features in the Indian market; they are the difference between a usable course and an abandoned one.
Supabase is strongest at production-grade auth and RLS without building them, on standard Postgres you can leave. For lms development that matters because the failure modes of this kind of system tend to cluster exactly there.
The honest trade-off: opinionated in ways that occasionally fight a complex custom auth model. We say that up front because a stack chosen for fashion rather than fit becomes someone's migration project two years later. We start from the constraint, not the capability, what the system must never do, who signs off, and what happens when it is wrong.

Questions
Should we build or buy an LMS?
Buy if standard course delivery covers you, Moodle and commercial platforms are mature and cheap. Build when your learning model is the product, which is usually true for edtech businesses and rarely for internal training.
Can it work on poor connections?
Yes, adaptive streaming, offline download and resumable progress. This is a core requirement in most of India, not an enhancement.
How do you prevent cheating?
Question randomisation, time limits, attempt controls and proctoring where the stakes justify it. Perfect prevention is not achievable; raising the effort required is.
